Community Invited to Support Campaign to Build the New St. Katharine Drexel Shelter and Provide Year-Round Housing for Individuals and Families

St. Vincent de Paul of Fond du Lac County and Solutions Center are kicking off the public phase of their capital campaign to build a new homeless shelter and resource center at 358 N. Peters Avenue. The organizations will gather lead donors, announce the total raised to date, and invite the community to help build the 20,000-square-foot facility.

What:

Photo opportunity, campaign announcement, donor recognition, ribbon tying ceremony
– donors will write what home means to them on ribbons and tie to the fence, inviting others to join them to donate and hang ribbons as a public symbol of their support and awareness for homelessness.

When:

Thursday, May 13
11-11:30 a.m.

Where:

330 N. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac

Who*:

Why:

150 people in Fond du Lac County experience homelessness on any given day.
Every night the Solutions Center shelter is full and 38 families are on the wait list.
Homelessness can happen to anyone. Too many people are only one health, economic or family crisis away from losing their home.

This shelter will provide a stable environment and access to programs and support that offer short-term crisis intervention and long-term goal planning with the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency.
